PRIVACY POLICY

OVERVIEW

FrictionApp is designed to protect your privacy. The app works entirely offline — no accounts, no servers, no cloud sync. Your data never leaves your device.

DATA WE STORE ON YOUR DEVICE

FrictionApp stores the following data locally using iOS UserDefaults and Keychain:

Block state — Whether apps are currently blocked and when the block expires.
App selection tokens — Opaque tokens from Apple's Screen Time API representing your selected apps. These tokens cannot be used to identify specific apps outside of the blocking system.
Timer state — Unblock countdown progress, persisted to prevent bypass via force-quit.
Preferences — Your settings choices (e.g., analytics opt-in preference).

SCREEN TIME API

FrictionApp uses Apple's Family Controls framework (Screen Time API) to block and unblock apps. This requires your explicit permission. The app receives opaque activity tokens — it cannot see app names, usage data, or any other Screen Time information.

ANALYTICS

Analytics collection is disabled by default. If you opt in via the Settings screen, anonymous usage events (e.g., block/unblock actions) may be collected to improve the app. You can opt out at any time. No personal information is ever collected.

NO BACKEND

FrictionApp has no backend server. The optional backend sync feature is disabled by default and is not active in the current release. No data is transmitted to any server.

DATA CONTROLS

You have full control over your data:

Export — Download a JSON copy of all stored data from Settings.
Delete — Permanently erase all local data from Settings. This clears UserDefaults, Keychain, and all preferences.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

FrictionApp does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services in the current release.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

FrictionApp is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

CHANGES

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
